California Teachers Association head counsel Beverly Tucker used to be a counsel for the ACLU

California Teachers Association head counsel Beverly Tucker used to be a counsel for the ACLU in Northern California. Obviously, she wasn't a true believer in civil rights, or she wouldn't have spent so much money and effort on silly efforts to violate my civil rights. Tucker didn't plan her actions well.

Tucker had no good reason to support the two teachers who said I was going to come to school and shoot everybody. Her reason for doing so? It was an election year for the teachers union affiliate in Chula Vista, and the incumbent (Gina Boyd) was afraid the two teachers might make trouble for her if she insisted on a proper investigation.

I think Tucker was careless. The matter simply wasn't important to her, so she didn't bother to use any energy thinking about it. Only a very tiny amount of brain work was required to reach a sensible solution to the problem. The teachers should have been told to apologize to me. Instead, Tucker has spent years forcing teachers to lie under oath, wildly contradicting each other, among other shameful actions.

Tucker has enormous power. The people who supported her in my case (Gail Mendes, Jim Groth and Peg Myers) are rising fast in CTA. This delights me, because it makes my case more newsworthy and it reveals the politics inside CTA.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" (Benjamin Disraeli quote popularized by Mark Twain)

This post isn't about statistics. It's about the first two kinds of lies. The self-righteous and wrathful Glenn Beck (photo at left) admits he fabricated a story about Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg (photo at right). To see a video clip of Glenn Beck and the ladies he lied about,
click here: At Your Beck and Maul
The View (Weekdays, Syndicated on ABC)

"'The View' crew annihilates Glenn Beck for flat out lying about them."

Sadly, Glenn Beck is not an aberration.

Beck's behavior is quite typical; it even happens remarkably frequently in schools when personal politics eclipses concern for students.

Union leader Gina Boyd of Chula Vista Educators (photo above) refused to admit that teachers fabricated a story about Maura Larkins.

I am fascinated by people who habitually lie, or tell a lie when it isn't even in their interest to do so. I can understand lying in a situation where telling the truth could cause irreparable harm; for example, I believe that if I were a Jew facing the Spanish Inquisition, I would say that I firmly believed in Catholicism, even if I had doubts. But to make up a story just to cause harm to another person seems stupid to me. This is exactly what Castle Park Elementary teachers did in order to get rid of teachers they didn't like. Shame on San Diego County Office of Education-Joint Powers Authority and its director Diane Crosier and on California Teachers Association legal chief Beverly Tucker for putting teachers in a position where they were pressured to tell their false stories under oath.

Inspiring but arbitrary Capistrano teacher settles

August 08, 1999
Fired Teacher Settles Case With O.C. District
By Karen Alexander
August 08, 1999

Former Capistrano Valley High School teacher Paul Pflueger, who was fighting his dismissal for controversial teaching methods, has agreed to take early retirement because he said he could not afford to continue his legal battle against the school district.

Pflueger, 55, was fired by the Capistrano Unified school board in February on the grounds of unsatisfactory performance and has been on administrative leave while his appeal was pending.

Although there were frequent complaints about his unorthodox teaching methods and sometimes abrasive approach, Pflueger’s case drew testimonials and letters of support from hundreds of current and former students and parents.

He had vowed to fight the dismissal. But the 18-year history teacher entered a settlement with the school district on July 30 after he learned that the teachers union wanted him to begin paying a portion of his legal bills. The union had been covering most of Pflueger’s expenses until that time.

“I would like this thing to have gone a long way so we could prove to the parents and students who have supported me that they can’t get rid of a teacher just because [of] a few unorthodox methods,” Pflueger said.

A hearing before an administrative law judge was scheduled to begin at the end of this month and could have lasted several months, Pflueger said.

The state’s largest teachers union, the California Teachers Assn., has spent $46,000 on Pflueger’s case, according to Chris Kirkland, executive director of the union’s local affiliate, the Capistrano Unified Education Assn.

School board members voted 6 to 1 to remove Pflueger after an emotional meeting attended by about 300 people. Scores of parents and students spoke in his defense. Capistrano Valley High School administrators had leveled 42 charges against the teacher, claiming he taught inconsistently, used offensive language, graded arbitrarily and failed to comply with suggested improvements.

Pflueger’s defenders portrayed him as a caring and dedicated teacher who inspired students and challenged them to think for themselves. His rough manner was a valuable part of his teaching approach, some argued.

Under the terms of the settlement, Pflueger will remain on administrative leave until next June. He will be entitled to the same medical benefits as any retiree, according to the school district’s lawyer, David Larsen.

Pflueger said the district offered him another teaching position in its continuation home school programs, which he rejected.

After Pflueger was dismissed, he rented a room at his own expense and offered students a free lesson to help them prepare for their advanced placement exam in U.S. history, his former subject.

Are education reformers bad Democrats? Challengers at DNC convention confront teachers union

More and more Democrats are starting to challenge the National Education Association and other teacher unions for standing in the way of education reform.

Union Tensions at DNC
by Michele McNeil
Education Week

The education event that followed the NEA luncheon showed the growing tensions within the Democratic Party over school reform, and the role of teachers’ unions.

Though it’s no surprise an event sponsored by the Democrats for Education Reform would have a slight anti-union message; many of the speakers at the event took several shots at unions during the press conference announcing the Education Equality Project in June.

Today, the sentiment was strong and persistent at standing-room-only, three-hour forum called Ed Challenge for Change. In fact, some of the big-city mayors who participated predicted that had such a forum been held four years ago, a mere five souls would have showed.

Here at the Denver Art Museum, Democratic mayors from Newark, N.J., Washington D.C., and Denver joined education reform darlings including New York City’s Joel Klein and Washington D.C.’s Michelle Rhee. The group was referred to as the “misfits” of the Democratic Party by DFER's Joe Williams, a nod to their willingness to speak up against the influence of teachers’ unions, which have formed the backbone of the party...

Here's more about NEA and Washington D.C.:

NEA Throws Darcy Under the Bus, Undermines NEA’s Health Care Agenda
July 22, 2008
by Matt Stoller

The NEA's Washington chapter, the Washington Education Association, just endorsed Republican Dave Reichert for Congress over progressive Democrat Darcy Burner. Now, there are a lot of reasons that organizations endorse, and in this case it's because Reichert has badmouthed unfunded mandates. Reichert has a bad voting record on education, with a 10% rating on education from Progressive Punch. He has among other things voted to gut Head Start and lots and lots of scholarship money, as well as voting down the line with Republicans to gut Federal spending on education. But the NEA's Washington chapter wants a Republican in their pocket, so they are throwing Darcy Burner under the bus...

CTA puts its lawyers Beverly Tucker and Patricia Winslow in charge of workshop about change

See all Beverly Tucker posts.

See all Patricia Winslow posts.

California Teachers Association is in favor of improving education--as long as chief CTA attorney Beverly Tucker is in charge of the process, and as long as any changes in the education system don't interfere with her own power.

I used to think that Tucker just wanted to keep a tight grip on the teachers union. But it makes sense that she has to control teachers in order to keep control of the union, doesn't it?

Barbara Kerr is leaving Long Beach teachers under the control of her "deputy"

Former CTA President Barbara Kerr

Teachers in Long Beach got into a power struggle a while back, and that didn't make California Teachers Association (CTA) happy. Instead of allowing the conflict to work itself out democratically and in the courts, CTA took control last October, and still hasn't freed TALB from its control.

Kevin Butler of the Long Beach Press Telegram Long Beach Press Telegram
announced on 06/11/2008 that former CTA president Barbara Kerr will no longer be the official trustee in charge of the local affiliate. After eight months, she is allowing her deputy trustee Jack Cottrell to take over.

Butler writes, "Kerr said she anticipates that the trusteeship will continue through the summer under the leadership of interim executive director and deputy trustee Jack Cottrell...Kerr, a former president of the statewide teachers union, said that the end of the regular school year was a natural time for her to choose to leave voluntarily..."

Good call, Barbara, to leave voluntarily.

The Press Telegram also notes, "Previously, the TALB board hired the executive director. Now, TALB and CTA officials will jointly screen candidates and hire someone..."

The last full time director, Scott McVarish, resigned after an audit that revealed that too much money was spent on politics. Barbara Kerr, however, had nothing but
nice things to say about McVarish.

Ethics Complaints Against CTA-affiliate Presidents and Directors Forbidden

Teachers Association of Long Beach (TALB) directors really had no choice but to file suit against CTA to get their union back because CTA lawyers have a policy of silencing complaints against the presidents and executive directors of local affiliates, no matter how illegal their behavior is.

When the CTA-chosen executive director of the Teachers Association of Long Beach, Scott McVarish, misused funds in 2007, CTA wouldn't let the TALB board of directors fire him. Instead, CTA paid for a lawyer to defend him when he slandered one of the directors.

Finally CTA realized too much money was being lost, but instead of turning over power to the directors, it took over the union itself and gave control to ex-CTA president Barbara Kerr.

The directors have filed suit to get their union back.

This is all familiar to those of us who know about the actions of Barbara Kerr and CTA head counsel Beverly Tucker in Chula Vista Elementary School District.

Tim O'Neill, the executive director chosen by CTA for South County Teachers United (CTA), informed Chula Vista Educators member Maura Larkins in December 2002 that she was forbidden from making a complaint to her union affiliate Board of Directors or Representative Council about unethical behavior on the part of the president. Why was she forbidden? Because president Gina Boyd herself refused to allow a complaint to be made about her.

You can't expect much in the way of ethics from an organization like this.

Will Barbara Kerr change Long Beach, or will it change her?

Former CTA president Barbara Kerr has taken over as trustee of TALB. Achieving some of the goals on the TALB website will require a change in Barbara's behavior.

DO THESE GOALS REQUIRE A CHANGE FROM BARBARA?

1. "Promote teachers' legal rights"(when crimes committed)--
NO CHANGE REQUIRED
2. "Promote (law-abiding) teachers' legal rights" --
BIG IMPROVEMENT NEEDED
2. "Protect our members" who commit crimes--
NO CHANGE REQUIRED
3. "Protect..." honest, high-performing teachers--
IMPROVEMENT NEEDED
4. "Organize its membership for influence & power"--
NO CHANGE REQUIRED

Covering up teacher misconduct? That's right up Barbara Kerr and Beverly Tucker's alley.

Ah! Now it's clear what the problem is in Long Beach: the Teachers Association of Long Beach (TALB)directors take their job seriously.

In this they are polar opposites of the Chula Vista Educators directors, one of whom told me that she didn't know the facts about the lawsuit that she and the rest of the board refused to settle, and that she hadn't seen the lawsuit.

She made it clear that she wanted CVE presidents Gina Boyd and Jim Groth to make authoritative decisions without consulting the rest of the board.

But in Long Beach, according the the www.gazette.com (2/7/2008),

"...in June 2007...several TALB board members voted to fire McVarish, accusing him of misusing union funds and making authoritative decisions without consulting the rest of the board. Several days after the vote, the union's Representative Council met and voted to reinstate McVarish.

www.gazettes.comwww.gazettes.com/mcvarish20720

If he had worked for Chula Vista Educators, McVarish would still have a job. Down here most union affiliate board members appreciate a president who will protect teachers who violate the law and keep Barbara Kerr and Beverly Tucker happy, no matter how much union money is lost in the process.

CTA's Terrifying Twosome (Barbara Kerr/Beverly Tucker) strikes again

Press Telegram Long Beach, California
By Kevin Butler, Staff Writer
03/07/2008

"Teachers Association of Long Beach trustee Barbara Kerr Friday denounced a lawsuit filed by members of the teachers union over a takeover by the union's parent organization."

[BLOGGER NOTE:
Kerr is good at denouncing. I'll bet her eyes were spitting fire when she did this.]

"Twenty-two members of the Long Beach teachers union are asking a state court to invalidate the takeover of the local chapter by its state parent union last October.

"The California Teachers Association took over the Teachers Association of Long Beach, then embroiled in an internal leadership struggle, with the aim of restoring "the democratic process" and investigating allegations of financial mismanagement, CTA officials said at the time..."

BLOGGER NOTE:
Since when is a recall not part of the democratic process? Democracy is about leadership struggles. CTA stopped democracy in its tracks.

"TALB is a chapter of CTA, and CTA has the right to impose a trusteeship," she said.

[BLOGGER NOTE:
So why didn't Kerr take over Chula Vista Educators in 2001-2002? She and her lawyer, Beverly Tucker, were informed of criminal actions taken by local union leaders. Instead, she and CTA's head counsel spent teacher dues and obstructed justice to cover up the original misdemeanors and keep the wrongdoers in power.]

"The 22 TALB union members on Feb. 25 filed a lawsuit in California Superior Court alleging that the takeover violated California corporations code...

"The union members in the lawsuit also argue that they were denied a fair hearing before the CTA Board of Directors on Oct. 18 placed TALB in "trusteeship" under the leadership of former CTA president Kerr..."

[BLOGGER NOTE:
Of course they were denied a fair hearing. The board of directors, including Barbara Kerr when she was President, simply does what head legal counsel Beverly Tucker and executive director Carolyn Doggett tells it to do.]

"The lawsuit also asks the court to require to move forward an internal election to recall one TALB board member. Kerr halted the recall process when she took over the union.

"Two of the plaintiffs - Carrie Jones-Brown and Treva Kelly - were vying to replace TALB board member Patria Daliva, who was the target of the recall
effort."

[BLOGGER NOTE:
Ah, yes. Protecting people who are in power is a guiding principle for Beverly Tucker and Barbara Kerr (also known as "Barbarly Kerrtuck").]

"Also at issue in the lawsuit is the upcoming April 8 school board election in
which TALB has endorsed two candidates - Paul Crost and Rosa Diaz - who
each are challenging an incumbent.

"The members in the lawsuit claim that Kerr has refused to implement the union's "political action program" supporting the two candidates..."

[BLOGGER NOTE:
My guess is that these candidates were too independent; Kerr and Tucker and Doggett suspected them of having divided loyalties. In other words, they might put the good of students ahead of the power of the union.]

An open letter to CTA head counsel Beverly Tucker's subordinate

Hi Mike:
I just noticed that someone hacked my CTA webpage that had the quote of you saying that you and the rest of the public don't care if my due process rights were violated.

You shouldn't be any more ashamed of your attitude than Beverly Tucker or Carolyn Doggett or the officers of CTA should be ashamed of their attitudes. I hope they aren't making you feel bad about it. They should be nothing but grateful to you for doing what they paid you to do.

Ironically, your hostility was actually a measure of your humanity.

You couldn't have done the job that you were assigned to do if you hadn't dehumanized me. You had to believe that I didn't deserve the protection of the law or my union. You had to believe this, or it would have been impossible for you to help your clients get away with their multiple crimes against me. So hold your head up high when you are in the presence of CTA bigwigs--or 90% of lawyers. You might, however, want to bow your head in the presence of children.

Maura Larkins

P.S. You shouldn't be any more ashamed than Chula Vista Educators (CVE) officers Gina Boyd, Tim O'Neill, Jim Groth, or Peggie (Peg) Myers.

CTA, Spanish driver: guilty parties who see themselves as victims

After Robin Donlan and other teachers committed crimes against me, and California Teachers Association got my case thrown out of court, it came as a shock to me that CTA's head counsel Beverly Tucker would have the nerve to demand $6,000 in court costs from me. I couldn't understand the complete absence of remorse by Beverly Tucker and Carolyn Doggett (executive director of CTA) for having committed crimes against a teacher whom they had been paid to defend. (I'd been a dues-paying member for over 20 years.)

This story of a guilty driver suing the family of a boy he killed helped me understand that some people just don't suffer from guilt.

Spanish driver sues dead crash cyclist for damage

MADRID (Reuters) - A Spanish driver who collided with a cyclist is suing the dead youth's family $29,300 for the damage the impact of his body did to his luxury car, a Spanish newspaper reported on Friday.

Businessman Tomas Delgado says 17-year-old Enaitz Iriondo caused $20,500 of damage to his Audi A8 in the fatal 2004 crash in La Rioja region, the El Pais newspaper reported...

The youth had been cycling alone at night without reflective clothing or a helmet, according to a police report cited by El Pais.

His family won 33,000 euros compensation from Delgado's insurance company after the firm acknowledged he had been driving at excessive speed and this could have contributed to the incident, El Pais reported.

"I'm also a victim in all of this, you can't fix the lad's problems, but you can fix mine," Delgado told the newspaper...

Jim Groth and Peggie Myers: Where was CVE during the Danielle Coziahr case?

Chula Vista Educators President Peg Myers

Chula Vista Educators spent $17,000 to defend former CVE president Frank Luzzaro from the threat of losing a day's pay. And who knows how much CVE spent defending Peggie Myers, Robin Donlan and their friends from a mere administrative transfer.

But when it came to the Danielle Cozaihr case, CVE and CTA were not to be found. Perhaps CTA had used up all its money defending child molesters such as Albert G. Truitt.

CTA is a friend to union fat cats and their close friends, but ordinary, decent teachers can't expect much.

Jim Groth and Peggie Myers, and the new CVE vice-president Monica Sorenson actually helped the district violate the law in the Maura Larkins case.

Why did Chula Vista Elementary School District teachers elect these Beverly Tucker clones? Don't they care about basic human decency? Or do they simply not know what's going on?

Jim Groth and Peggie Myers play yet another trick on Chula Vista teachers

Peggie Myers is the new president of Chula Vista Educators. Readers may remember Ms. Myers for her role in the Castle Park Elementary fiasco.

Teachers re-elected longtime president Jim Groth in 2007, but he had other plans. He moved on the the Board of Directors of California Teachers Association, where he can continue to work closely with lead attorney Beverly Tucker, who helped him and Ms. Myers cover up illegal activities at CVESD.

One wonders why Jim Groth didn't resign immediately as Chula Vista Educators president when he was chosen for the state board of directors.

My guess is that he wanted to make very sure that the person who followed him as leader of CVE was someone who knew and approved of the coverup that CVE and CTA had been conducting for several years. He--and Beverly Tucker--wanted someone in charge of CVE who wouldn't be too interested in following the law. The last thing they wanted was someone who would ask questions or demand reform. Apparently they feared that recent past vice-president Robyn Higginson might not be a whole-hearted supporter of Jim and Peggy's illegal actions against teachers. Jim Groth apparently threw his support to Peggie Myers, and the two of them succeeded in pushing Higginson out.

Apparently Peggie Myer's training went well, and after a few months, Jim Groth resigned and Peggie Myers, who had recently been chosen as vice president of CVE, became president of CVE.

It should be an easy job, Peggy. The board of directors rubber stamps whatever CTA lawyers and/or the CVE president tells them to. There doesn't seem to be a single person among them who would resign on principle because their association was violating laws willy-nilly.

Next, Chula Vista Elementary teachers will be asked to vote for a new vice-president. How about Robin Donlan, to keep the old gang together?

CTA goes to California Supreme Court in effort to keep child molesters in classrooms

Here's a post from Jane Swanson's California Teachers Blog:

Those pesky school districts!

Once again they are trying to get child molesters out of the classroom. In the Albert G. Truitt, Jr. case, the California Teachers Association proved once again that its executive director Carolyn Doggett, its chief counsel Beverly Tucker, and their stable of lawyers are a buch of geniuses.

Usually, teachers cannot be dismissed or have their credentials taken away for any act occurring more than four years before charges are brought against them. But for CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, exceptions have been made to this 4-year statute of limitations IN EVERY VENUE IN CALIFORNIA EXCEPT WHEN A DISTRICT TRIES TO DISMISS A TEACHER.

Atwater School District wanted to dismiss Mr. Truitt in 2002 for molestations that occurred from 1992 to 1998.

CTA said no way!

QUESTION:

Why do Beverly Tucker and Carolyn Doggett want to keep the following anomaly in California law?

"A teacher could be prosecuted criminally, the CTC could institute credential revocation proceedings, and a school district could be sued for negligent hiring, retention, and supervision all based on the same set of facts that exist here. Yet, the Court of Appeal’s literal interpretation of section 44944(a) would deprive a school district of the ability to dismiss an employee on the same set of facts."

ANSWER:

Beverly Tucker and Carolyn Doggett care about political power and loyalty to friends who commit crimes more than they care about the abuse of children.

Sadly, our friends at CTA lost the Albert Truitt case. In June 2007, the California Supreme Court ruled that equity requires that school districts get the same extension on the statute of limitations that the Teacher Credentialling Commission gets.

CTA must have thought it had a good chance to win, since in 1993 it apparently was able to kill a California bill that would have specifically extended the child sexual abuse statute of limitations for school districts. Can you believe that legislators would fail to vote for a bill that would get child molesters out of classrooms? This goes to show the enormous power that CTA has in California. No Democrat can get elected without CTA's support. CTA holds the purse strings to a huge amount of campaign funds, and every local affiliate in California is rigidly controlled by Beverly Tucker and Carolyn Doggett.

Isn't it sad to see Beverly Tucker and her pal Michael Hersh lose a case? Let's hope they don't get depressed. They would be so much more successful if they didn't defend criminals. I for one am crossing my fingers and hoping that in the next case they fight, Bev and Mike won't be using teacher union dues to protect criminals. Maybe they got over confident when they got my case thrown out of court. They succeeded in protecting union leaders who had started with
misdemeanors, but went on to commit felonies to cover up their misdemeanors.

CTA defends the rights of certain teachers, like Albert G.Truitt, Jr.

California Teachers Association's powerful leaders Beverly Tucker and Carolyn Doggett are loyal to a fault.

When a pal of CTA leaders is charged with incompetence or child abuse, CTA works hard to protect them.

Do competent teachers, who have not committed child abuse or any other crime, get the same treatment? No--politics reigns supreme in the education system. CTA frequently ignores or violates the rights of high-functioning teachers, but the top brass of CTA act just like the current executive branch of the United States when it comes to covering up crimes and protecting pals from punishment.

Last month the California Supreme Court released the Albert Truitt Jr. decision, much to the consternation of CTA lawyers Beverly Tucker, Rosalind Wolf, and John Kohn.

CTA and PERB were vexatious litigants in the Turlock case

California Teacher Association was a shamefully vexatious litigant in the Turlock case in 2003. The Court of Appeal had already ruled in San Diego that CTA buttons may not be worn by teachers during class time when CTA is fighting another union to represent teachers. But at the height of the budget crisis, when the Public Employee Relations Board was laying off at least one employee that I know of, PERB and CTA went all the way to the California Supreme Court in an effort to overturn PERB's OWN JUDGE (!) who had correctly relied on the San Diego case. CTA and its lapdog Bob Thompson, general counsel at PERB, wasted tax dollars and teacher dues in this vexatious litigation.

The vexatious lawyers in the Turlock case were: Robert Thompson, General Counsel, and Marie A. Nakamura, Legal Counsel, for PERB, and Priscilla Winslow, Beverly Tucker, Ramon Romero, Diane Ross, and Ballinger G. Kemp for CTA.

The lawyers who won were San Diego's own Currier & Hudson, Richard J. Currier, C. Anne Hudson, and Andrea Naested who represented Turlock Joint Elementary School District.

This is what the court of appeal told the vexatious Beverly Tucker:

"This is the bottom line: “The first rule of teaching should be that teachers shall teach. A classroom is not a place for proselytizing students to advance a teacher’s financial interests. Nor should a classroom be transmogrified into a teacher’s soapbox."

Beverly Tucker noted with outrage in recent pleadings that I had posted DOCUMENTS on my website. I think they were upset that I posted letters from them.

They specifically complained to the judge about this page.

Of course, Bev was even more upset that I accused her of destroying and altering documents and suborning perjury. But instead of trying to prove she is innocent (which she can not do), she is trying to stop me from filing any more lawsuits. She says I'm a vexatious litigant, failing to note in her pleading that my lawsuit against Kathleen Elton was settled in my favor for $75,000.

Did CTA hire a hacker to hide a lawsuit?

On May 15, 2007, someone blanked a page on my website. It was the text of a lawsuit that had just been filed against Beverly Tucker, California Teacher Association's chief lawyer.

This lawsuit is a matter of public interest, concerning California teachers and students, and very powerful people who have violated the law. If you have any doubts, just read the text and click on the links.

If anything I have said is untrue, or if these matters are not of public interest, the defendants can sue me for defamation. But of course, they don't want to sue because they know everything I have said is true, and very much a matter of public interest.

I created a new page for the lawsuit. Here is the new link.
Here is the new link.

I have it on good authority

I am a teacher who sued California Teachers Association recently for violations of statutes (PC 127 and others), and I got a response in the mail yesterday from CTA lawyer Beverly Tucker. This is the line that most intrigued me:

"For the last five years, Larkins has been attacking [CTA] Defendants...through a political campaign of sorts."

Is that what I'm doing? It's sounds pretty cool. I'm conducting a political campaign of sorts. I guess it's not a full-fledged political campaign because I'm not running for office. But if the co-head of CTA says that's what I'm doing, then I've got it on good authority. (Beverly Tucker and Executive Director Carolyn Doggett control CTA. President Daniel Vaughn is just a carefully-groomed talking head.)

My goal has long been to become a Democratic activist, working to strengthen my party against the corrupt influence of the California Teachers Association. Education is too important to be a political football. Carolyn Doggett and Beverly Tucker have for too long traded the best interests of children for political power for themselves. Lots of Democrats know this, but how can a Democrat get elected without support from CTA?

Note: CTA lawyers, according to their pleading, are ignorant of the fact that the statute of limitations for violation of a California statute is 3 years. They insist that I've missed the deadline. Perhaps a law review course would be in order?

CTA opposes the ACLU

It's always sad when former friends go separate ways. That seems to be what happened with CTA and the ACLU.

From "California Teachers" blog:

"...Beverly Tucker [CTA chief counsel] was chosen multiple times to sit on the Board of Directors of the Northern California ACLU...this is the same Beverly Tucker who refused to defend a teacher who was dismissed for filing grievances and a lawsuit!

"I am in shock. Was it all an act, Beverly, pretending to be interested in constitutional rights? Was the ACLU a stepping stone for you? Was it all a publicity stunt for CTA?"
