COMPTON SUPERINTENDENT CHARGED PERSONAL ITEMS TO DISTRICT CREDIT CARD

Credit card records obtained by The Compton Bulletin reveal that the superintendent of the Compton Unified School District appears to have been using taxpayer money for personal purchases.
Records provided by the school district indicate that only some of the purchases made by Superintendent Dr. Kaye Burnside on a district-issued credit card have been repaid.
A district employee from accounting said she questioned Superintendent Dr. Kaye Burnside’s credit card use roughly a year ago. She said she was pulled aside by a top administrator, who explained to her that Burnside was using the card for personal use because she had been the victim of identify theft, which prevented her from obtaining a personal credit card.
The Compton Unified school board’s credit card policy expressly forbids personal use of credit cards, stating, “under no circumstances may personal expenses be charged.”
